The International Crafts Fair presented itself in a diverse and forward-looking manner - the perfect setting for the introduction of innovations for the craft trades. At the opening event, which was attended by the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder and the Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmeier, werk5 was presented as an example of innovation in craftsmanship and the managing directors Gunnar Bloss and Hauke Helmer were invited to the stage.
ScanInform - Robotics for the trade
For the first time, werk5 presented the Robotik Toolbox and its possibilities of using robotics in the trade to an interested specialist audience. Visitors could test the CanInform application and the Robotik Toolbox and were impressed by the simplicity of the operation. The installation coonsisted of a Cobot, a display wall and a multi touch table. In addition to the 3D objects specially produced for the trade fair, the processing of everyday objects - such as bananas – drew crowds of people to the werk5 booth. Younger visitors used the opportunity and had their hand scanned and painted by the Cobot.
Prominent visit to the exhibition stand
Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the werk5 booth, steered the Cobot and were introduced to the various applications of robotics by werk5 Robotik project manager Christophe Barlieb and managing director Gunnar Bloss.
The Robotik Toolbox offers specific solutions with precisely fitting programming and thus facilitates the integration of robotics into the trade. This benefits the employees in the craft businesses, who can delegate heavy and monotonous tasks to the increasingly precise digital tool and devote themselves to more creative tasks. The use of new technologies also makes the craft interesting again for young people, for whom the use of digital technology is part of everyday life.
Bavarian State Prize for Robotics Toolbox from werk5
The Robotik Toolbox was awarded the Bavarian State Prize in the field of technology for special, innovative achievements in craftsmanship by the Bavarian State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Roland Weigert.
werk5 would like to thank its partners interactive scape and Delta for their technical support and GHM for a successful trade fair, as well as for providing images and video material.
